New Ultrasonic Machining Center
August 1, 2013
Tongtai has developed a non-contact electrical material elimination supply with ultrasonic machining technologies for hard and brittle materials such as aluminum alloy, hardened steel, glass and ceramic. The Tongtai TT51-USA ultrasonic machining center is now available from Absolute Machine Tools.
"The advantage of electricity without contact is eliminating oxidation so there is no chance of unstable machining and electric leakage," said a company spokesperson. "With the ultrasonic machining device, the machining efficiency of the original spindle has been improved from three to five times."
The T51-USA utilizes the 0i-MD controller with spindle speeds up to 20,000 RPM. A spindle cooling system uses recycled coolant to avoid thermal distortion during long-term machining. The direct-drive type spindle connects with the motor by coupling to provide enhanced output in horsepower and torque.
The three axes feeding devices feature a FANUC "a" series servo motor and precision level ballscrews and linear guide ways. This allows the rapid traverse to achieve 1,890 IPM. Moreover, the increase in speed acceleration and deceleration improves machining efficiency.
The T51-USA uses centralized management of the solenoid valve of air pressure and lubrication pump for facilitating the daily maintenance. All lines and piping, including electricity, oil pressure, air pressure and cutting, have been redesigned for enhanced machine appearance.
