May 6-9: Davi Highlights Oil & Gas Plate Rolling Solutions at Offshore Technology Conference

Davi, a supplier of plate rolling solutions to oil & gas component manufacturers, will highlight its machine technology, industry leadership and research & development at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2024, May 6-9, at NRG Park, in Houston, TX.

Chris Bratcher, Davi Business Development Manager for Texas and Oklahoma, will be available to talk about how Davi plate rolling solutions help component manufacturers meet the demanding applications of the oil & gas sector. Bratcher will be in the Italian Trade Agency booth 3851.

Offshore oil & gas manufacturing presents unique and difficult challenges. Platform structures such as jackets, monopiles and tripods require precise rolling of 2” to 10”-thick steel plates in tight diameters. Effective processing and rolling of these massive and expensive workpieces require excellent repeatability to avoid the expense and lost manufacturing time that would occur if a component was scrapped.

"Davi’s MAV 3-roll variable axis plate rolling machine has become the top choice for those applications among the oil & gas industry’s key players," said a company spokesperson. "The machine features motorized rolls for precise positioning and cone bending and Davi’s patented Servo-Tronic system to maintain parallelism. In addition to being the most compact machine in the industry, the MAV provides a symmetrically balanced load on the top roll, which is exclusive to the Davi MAV."

Pressure vessels and boilers for the oil & gas industry call for manufacturers to roll up to 6”-inch thick plates in medium to large diameters with repeatable precision. Davi’s MCB 4-roll machine features a bottom roll to clamp the plate for precise positioning and control. The side rolls are powered by Davi’s planetary guides technology that provides "exceptional bending force and the tightest achievable diameters."

The spokesperson added, "The newly designed MCB is now sturdier, stronger and more compact to bring even more efficiency and productivity to the shop floor."

The iRoll eXtreme advanced control system provides a smartphone experience with ergonomic controls and a high-resolution screen with live 3D interface.

The control uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to fine tune programs, allows real-time simulation and is Industry 4.0 compliant. Davi’s iCone software manages machine guide position for extremely accurate sheet positioning, and a laser measuring system integrates seamlessly with iRoll eXtreme to track and record forming tolerances.

Since 1969, the OTC annually convenes scientists, engineers and industry leaders in the offshore energy sector to share ideas and innovations. Last year, the OTC brought in over 31,000 attendees from more than 100 countries.
