Virtual CD Trainer for GibbsCAM

Virtual CD Trainer is a training CD for GibbsCAM® customers. “The graphical interface simulates the functionality that Gibbs customers are used to seeing within Virtual Gibbs®, and GibbsSFP® shop floor programming software,” said a Virtual CD Trainer spokesperson. Virtual CD Trainer is designed to take the user through a complete part step-by-step or by specific functions if the user prefers. The tutorial is designed to work the same way the user would set-up and program a real job. This allows users to visualize programming GibbsCAM products on one selected computer. The "How Do I?" feature of Virtual CD Trainer contains a large library of the most frequently asked questions in the major catagories within Gibbs.

“Virtual CD Trainer is useful in training new employees and getting them up to speed quickly on GibbsCAM,” said the spokesperson. “You can now have the flexibility to handle your training needs in your own office when it is convenient, and review repeatedly until your employees feel confident they have it right. Virtual CD Trainer also covers machining methods that are seldom used such as engraving or setting up G code output. This makes it a great reference tool to add to your shop.”

Virtual CD Production Mill

The Production Mill CD shows all operations of the 2.5 Milling such as material only cutting, contouring, pocketing, drilling, tapping, boring, swept shapes and more. Multiple processing and saving knowledge base machining operations are demonstrated to speed up programming time. Also included on the CD is 4th axis positioning which is standard on the Production Mill module.

Virtual CD Production Lathe

GibbsCAM 2 axis turning operations are demonstrated on this CD. Material only cutting, automatic clearance calculation, user definable part stock, using canned cycles, tapered and straight threading, and grooving are all covered. Multiple processing and saving knowledge base machining operations are demonstrated to speed up programming time.

Virtual CD SolidSurfacer

This CD demonstrates the many different tool paths that can be applied directly to the surface of the model. Finding and fixing surface models as well as building of models and importing solid and surface models are also covered.

Virtual CD MTM

This CD covers aspects of the multi axes machines that are on the market today. It will show users how to turn and mill on multiple spindles with multiple turrets and to allow the programmer to synchronize and rearrange process to optimize tool path and avoid tool interference. Also covered is the setting up of tools and material for these types of machines.

Virtual CD Options, All four on one CD

Advanced Mill covers instructions on creating multiple coordinate systems used in the machining of 4th and 5th axis parts as well as tombstone machining.

Rotary Mill demonstrates simultaneous 4th axis rotary machining for both vertical and horizontal machines. Creating geometry is explained both in the flat and also the wrapped positions.

Solid Import covers the module that is an-add on to the production mill and turning packages. “We explore the capabilities of importing surface and solid models from any CAD package directly into Gibbs and how to extract geometry from the model to be used for machining operations,” said the spokesperson.

Mill-Turn covers the set-up and machining needed for a lathe with live tooling. Coordinate systems and all machining practices are covered in the tutorial along with a section of “How Do I?” for milling on OD and ID.

System Requirements

Virtual CD Trainer is Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, NT and XP compatible. Users will need an SVGA monitor or better set to 1024 x 768 resolution, along with a functional sound card, QuickTime™ Version 5 (included on CD). CDs are single CPU license products.
