Farley Laserlab, manufacturer of high-technology profile cutting systems for over 30 years, offers its Fabricator XRP, which provides lower part costs not found in conventional punch/cutting machines. Designed for structural steel shops, OEMs and steel service centers, the Fabricator XRP drills and plasma cuts parts in one setup.
The Fabricator XRP that was featured at the recent FABTECH show was sold to Willbanks Metals Inc. of Fort Worth, TX. "We purchased this XRP Fabricator to process parts for a new market we are entering. The flexible nature of the machine makes it an ideal choice for us," said Eric Letz, Vice President of Willbanks Metals. "We can get several processes done on one table at one time, eliminating the majority of material handling, layout and manual processes. Our goal was to cut down material handling, and the Fabricator will do that for us."
"New jobs can be set up while the existing jobs are being processed," said a spokesperson. "Increased productivity can be realized since there are virtually no restrictions on the size, shape or thickness of the raw material. With its precise CNC control, greater accuracy and better fit-up of parts are assured."
The Fabricator XRP can drill hole sizes ranging from 1/8-inch to 2-5/8-inches, depending on drill type. "We chose the XRP over other similar machines because of its drilling technology," said Letz. "We also do a lot of contour beveling, and this machine had more features to give us that flexibility."
In addition to drilling, the Fabricator XRP utilizes Hypertherm's latest HyPerformance plasma, oxy/fuel, plate marking and bevel cutting. The plasma system control automatically transfers all plasma process control parameters when changing material thickness and material type being processed.
