COLE-TUVE Releases New Plate Bending Rolls

The plate bending rolls that are currently making an impressive market appearance are VIRLI Models 3R-UHS with variable distances between the two lower rolls and vertically adjustable upper roll. These are fully hydraulic, three-roll rolls on which each of the two lower rolls is adjustable horizontally and independently. Thus, the positions of the rolls can be changed to operate as a pyramid, initial-pinch or double-pinch roll. Therefore, for any job, it is possible to select the best position of the lower rolls in relation to the functioning of the vertical adjustment of the upper roll. In addition to its normal bending function, the vertical adjustment of the upper roll allows it to be used for pressing when such an operation can improve bending, as for heavy cones. This also provides optimum prebending capability.

All adjustments of the rolls and operation of the drop-end are hydraulic, with controls located in a rolling console. Other features include induction hardened rolls, three electronic digital readouts (one for each of the rolls), cone bending attachment, extra-large openings between the upper and lower rolls to accept some thick narrow plates and even some structurals and easy retro-fit of overhead and side support devices if required after the machine has been put into operation. Capacities range from 5-foot to 12-foot lengths x thicknesses up to 3 inches. Overall, these machines can bend a wider range of thicknesses from minimum to maximum.
