South Bend Lathe Sells Johnson Straight Side Press to McKey Perforating
McKey Perforating located in New Berlin, Wisconsin, recently selected a Johnson 100 ton capacity straight side press with heavy duty tie rod construction. McKey will use the press to perforate holes in 48" wide steel stock at variable speeds from 100 to 400 strokes per minute as produced by South Bend Lathe Corporation at its 500,000 sq. ft. plant located in South Bend, Indiana.
Tom Hromadka, Plant Manager of McKey Perforating, indicates that the Johnson straight side press has design and feature criteria able to efficiently produce their product on a timely and productive basis and runs without un-necessary break-downs. The Johnson press offers maximum bed deflection of 0.001" per foot of bed length.
Johnson presses are available in OBI (open back inclinable) models from 16 to 150 ton. The adjustable bed horn models are from 35 to 60 tons. The gap frame designs of Johnson's range from 30 to 250 tons. Johnson heavy duty, tie rod constructed straight side styles are from 20 to 300 tons, and have bed sizes to 96" x 60".
