"The PG-400
(400 mm) can achieve class AGMA 12 (DIN 4 grade) on profile and lead gears at a
price tens of thousands of dollars less than the competition," said a Supertec
spokesperson. "Some of the latest technology incorporated into the machine
include components such as direct drive and linear motors as well as a Fanuc
2li-MB PC based control with shop floor language. Other popular features of the
PG-400 include but are not limited to: easy modification of tooth tip, tooth
flank (crowning) and reference root. The linear motor and grinding wheel spindle
cooler, cutting oil chiller and electric cabinet air conditioner all help to
reduce thermal growth. The RG-400 boast a 5.1-inch thru hole bore on the
workhead and 15.7 inches between centers for large part capability. The PG-400
is capable of grinding very small teeth -DP3.2 (M8-M0.4) and under. Other
popular features include the ability to grind spline gears, easily modify
profiles and leading edges and easily grind profile-shifted gears. Also
available is the PG-800 (800 mm) vertical profile grinding machine."
