The
Hardinge Group/L.Kellenberger & Co. AG has released the KEL-VERA, a new compact
high-precision cylindrical grinding machine, which is based on a modular
concept. The new design of the hydrostatic guideways is meeting requirements on
universal as well as on production grinding, the company said.
"Building on its experience of more than 15 years with hydrostatic guideways, Kellenberger is launching a completely new range of machines," said a company spokesperson. "The objective was to develop a compact machine which can be used for grinding of any kind of components with a length of up to 400 mm.
"Typical Kellenberger features include:
Sturdy and rigid design combined with highest precision for both workhead and tailstock.
A comprehensive cooling system ensures a balance thermal economy. Included therein are the hydrostatics, the wheelhead, internal grinding spindles and a heat exchanger in the electrical cabinet.
The strict separation of the machine base from components generating heat and vibration to ensure high quality precision and productivity.
The static and dynamic rigidity of the machine base permits a three-point set-up. The machines, therefore, have no particular requirements on the building's foundations.
Generously-designed sliding doors, different service doors and the clearly arranged power supply stand for facilitating the work of the operator and his servicing of the machine.
