VM-Manufacturing Corporation, Inc., founded in 1999 by Vincent Marzigliano, has developed from a small job shop to a manufacturer of components for aerospace, aircraft, automotive, medical and commercial industries. After graduation Mr. Marzigliano worked as a machinist and earned his certification as an AA New York State Machinist. He further earned his BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering and attained an MBA in Management. His desire to grow his own company led him to seek aerospace and defense contracts. He led VM-Manufacturing Corporation to upgrade its quality assurance programs in early 2005 and the company is certified by the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Government to produce aerospace and government contracts. seminars and received guidance and training from the Long Island Development Corporation (LIDC) Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP). VM-Manufacturing Corporation has been able to acquire several defense contracts through this assistance. LIDC - PTAP assists small manufacturers with quality programs and government contract procurement. LIDC recently announced that its Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP) has surpassed the $1.7 billion mark. What this means is that LIDC's PTAP Division (pronounced pea-tap) has helped Long Island companies win over $1.7 billion worth of international, national and local business including governmental contracts as of the end of April 2007. Machinist training and apprenticeship programs are among Vincent Marzigliano's priorities. "To keep jobs in the U.S. and to keep manufacturing strong, we [manufacturers] need to encourage apprenticeship programs," said Mr. Marzigliano. "Currently three plants out of 400 in our area offer apprenticeship programs. At VM-Manufacturing Corporation we have apprentices and find they have become good, productive employees." VM-Manufacturing Corporation has continued to grow with new government and other contracts and new equipment to manufacture the components required in the contracts. VM-Manufacturing Corporation uses a variety of manual and CNC machines for milling and turning. "Our company engineers and programmers help customers design products for optimum manufacturing in a team atmosphere," said Mr. Marzigliano. R & D and custom design is available. State-of-the-art CNC programs are used for part programming and part manufacturing. For quality assurance the company provides in-process inspection and uses measuring instruments of all types that are certified to NIST.
