To help welders better assess the suitability of their tubular filler metal to their welding application and to enhance the overall understanding of tubular wires, Hobart Brothers Company is offering a poster explaining the AWS (American Welding Society) classification system for four types of tubular wire.
With explanations of the classification system for mild steel flux-cored wire, mild steel metal-cored wire, low alloy flux-cored wire and low alloy metal-cored wire, the poster is available free of charge. A smaller version of the poster can also be downloaded from the Hobart Brothers web site.
"Knowing the AWS classification for a type of filler metal can provide a wealth of information for the astute welder who knows the meaning of the characters in the AWS classification system," said a company spokesperson. "However, remembering the AWS classification systems can be confusing and difficult. This new poster provides a convenient resource for mastering the classification systems for these types of wires."
The AWS Classifications poster is the third in a series of free educational posters designed to increase welding knowledge and terms among students, hobbyists and professionals alike.
