Seco Introduces New Duratomic Grade MP1500

"Seco Tools Inc. has introduced its new Duratomic grade MP1500, designed to be the perfect choice for customers who want maximum performance in milling steel, achieving more parts machined in less time," said a spokesperson. "Field tests comparing the MP1500 to its replaced grade show a 135-200 percent increase in output and 150 percent increase in tool life. When compared to similar competitors' grades, MP1500 is less sensitive in roughing operations, able to utilize higher feed rates and has a more wear resistant coating.

"The new MP1500 is an extremely hard and wear resistant grade for machining of harder steels including tool steels or even difficult types of cast iron. MP1500 is the ideal grade for optimizing milling application in steels under stable machining conditions. The Duratomic-covered MP1500 is the choice for customers seeking better performance, higher throughput and increased productivity when it comes to milling harder steel.

"Seco's MP1500 has relatively low cobalt content, which combined with the selected gain size, provides notable wear resistance and hardness (HV101500). The MP1500, enhanced with the Duratomic coating technology, reduces the heat transferred during the cutting process; therefore, higher cutting data can be used.
