GE Additive Appoints General Manager for Software

Igal Kaptsan

GE Additive has appointed Igal Kaptsan as Software General Manager, reporting to Jason Oliver, President and CEO. In this newly created position, Kaptsan is responsible for shaping and leading GE Additive's software strategy, defining business priorities, product roadmaps, features and functionality.

Based in Boston, Kaptsan will work closely with software teams within GE Additive's Technology and Engineering group, product management leadership across the business and with the wider commercial organization, to further refine the company's software strategy.

GE Additive's software vision remains centered on a partnership approach to simplifying the additive process and enabling an interoperable workflow. The company's software strategy envisions creating a common experience through a secure, intuitive tool that reduces design iterations and speeds up the time to print a good part, according to the design intent.

Kapstan brings over 25 years' experience in the engineering software industry and joins GE Additive from Dassault Systèmes, where he served as vice president, product management for its SOLIDWORKS portfolio.

Prior to Dassault Systèmes, Igal worked in product management roles at PTC. He was also founder and CEO of KollabNet, a dependency management software company, acquired by Bentley Systems, where he went on to serve as a Director of Applied Research for Advanced 3D Products.

"Software is a crucial element to the future of the design manufacturing process. We are excited to welcome Igal to the team, and the leadership and experience he brings to a critical growth area for our business," said Oliver.
