Advanced CAM Software Capabilities at Amerimold 2019

OPEN MIND Technologies AG, a developer of CAD/CAM software solutions, will showcase the advanced capabilities of hyperMILL CAM software in booth 702 at Amerimold. Amerimold will take place June 12-13, 2019, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.

"Attendees can learn how the extensive capabilities of hyperMILL offer significant advantages when using 5-axis machining for moldmaking," said a company spokesperson. "For example, the hyperMILL MAXX Machining Finishing Module, a performance package of the hyperMILL CAM software suite, is the CAM programming source enabling the use of conical barrel cutters (also known as arc segment or circle segment end mills) to reduce cycle times over 90% and is ideal for planar, ruled and curved surfaces often found in complex 5-axis components." hyperMILL MAXX Machining offers three modules for finishing, roughing and drilling.

hyperMILL 2019.1, the latest software release, has a range of new features and enhancements including an expanded Finishing Module in the hyperMILL MAXX Machining Performance Package. A new 5-axis Prismatic fillet finishing function in hyperMILL MAXX Machining enables the geometry and automatic inclination of barrel cutters to be applied similar to high feed cutters, using a plunging and pulling movement at high feedrates. Maximum performance is attainable using conical barrel cutters. Ball or bull nose end mills can also be efficiently utilized with this milling strategy.

hyperCAD-S in the 2019.1 suite, which is specially optimized for CAM requirements, now includes polyline management, enabling CAD functions such as lengthening or shortening to be applied by the polylines element type. Polylines can also be machined similar to all other elements, with trim, join, orient or select.
