New Jig Borer

"Mitsui Seiki, one of the world's only remaining suppliers of jig boring machines, now has introduced the new Super Jidic H6E CNC Jig Borer," said a company spokesperson.

"We have been responding to the resurgence of the jig borer as older jig borers have been coming off line for the last several years, and this is our most recent offering," said Robb Hudson, CEO, Mitsui Seiki USA, Inc. "Jig borers are, in terms of accuracy, mother machines - the ultra-precision equipment machinery builders use to make their own products. There was a large worldwide demand for jig borers during the 1980s. These machines last for upwards of three decades, so there is demand once again."

In addition to replacing older equipment, the company also believes major machine tool builders are placing these new orders to increase their ultra-precision machining capacity to achieve major improvements in the accuracy of their own equipment. Big demands in the aerospace market are also contributing to this trend, according to Hudson, such as for manufacturing and repairing gearboxes.

The Super Jidic H6E provides an X, Y, Z positioning accuracy of +/- 0.002 mm (0.000080"). Its repeatable accuracy is +/- 0.001 mm (0.000040"). The machine has an X-, Y-, Z-axis working envelope of 1,300 mm x 900 mm x 900 mm (approximately 51" x 35" x 35"). Table size is 800 mm x 800 mm (31.5" x 31.5"). The table can handle loads up to 1,600 kg (3,500 lbs.). An ATC accommodates 60 tools as standard.

Mechanical design features that maximize machine rigidity and accuracy include hardened and ground tool steel V-shaped slide ways featuring needle roller bearings.
