9-Axis and LaserSwiss Machines at Smart Mfg. Experience

Tsugami/Rem Sales, the exclusive North American importer of Precision Tsugami machine tools, will demonstrate the Tsugami BW129Z, the Tsugami SS327-5AX, the Tsugami S206 and the Tsugami SS207-5AX LaserSwiss at the Smart Manufacturing Experience.

The Northeastern distributor of Tsugami CNC Swiss-type machines, The Robert E. Morris Company, will feature two Tsugamis in its booth as well. The Tsugami M08SY and the Tsugami VA2 will run live demonstrations.

The Tsugami M08SY is a heavy duty turning center with Y-axis used to perform highly complex machining, such as turning, drilling, boring, cross-drilling and CNC milling. Both the main and back spindles are equipped with integral built-in spindles that minimize vibration and provide increased responsiveness for heavy duty cutting and fine finishing of workpieces.

The Tsugami VA2 is a high speed, high accuracy vertical machining center (VMC) with a compact footprint.

Featured machines in the Tsugami/Rem Sales booth:

  • Tsugami BW129Z: A 12 mm, 9-axis split-slide CNC precision automatic lathe with three path control that reduces cycle times and produces highly complex parts.
  • Tsugami SS327-5AX: A 32 mm, 7-axis sliding headstock Swiss-type lathe with servo driven B-axis. This machine is convertible, meaning that it can be run as a traditional sliding headstock Swiss-type lathe using the guide bushing, or run without the guide bushing with the help of an optional chucker kit.
  • Tsugami S206: A 20 mm CNC lathe capable of simultaneous machining of complex parts and includes a backworking Y-axis for additional capability. Modular tool zones and live tool capacity (15) enhance the performance of this machine's ability to cut parts in one set-up.
  • Tsugami SS207-5AX LaserSwiss: A 20 mm, 7-axis sliding headstock Swiss-type lathe with B-axis and LaserSwiss technology.

Tsugami/Rem Sales will demonstrate the Tsugami SS207-5AX LaserSwiss that combines Swiss-style machining with laser cutting on one machine, allowing manufacturers to perform Swiss turning and laser cutting operations with a single set-up. All operations are programmed and driven from the machine's FANUC 31i-B5 control. The laser nozzle standoff adjustment is NC controlled, and the laser's power level, frequency, pulse width and lens focus are all immediately adjustable. The SS207-5AX LaserSwiss holds 33 tools, plus the SPI Fiber Laser, which is available in 250W or 400W configurations.

"The SS207-5AX LaserSwiss machine is a 7-axis Swiss turn with a servo-driven B-axis. The B-axis live tools cut in coordination with the C-axis, facilitating the ability to quickly cut precise angles and sculpted contours," Tsugami/Rem Sales Vice President Michael Mugno said.

Manufacturers unable to attend the show are invited to schedule private machine tool demonstrations at the Tsugami/Rem Sales headquarters in Windsor, CT, by contacting the Robert E. Morris Company or Tsugami/Rem Sales directly.
