High-Speed Drill-Mill-Tap Centers

"The GEN MILL T-500 and T-700 high-speed drill-mill-tap centers by Ganesh Machinery combine the durability of heavy cast iron construction with the strength of roller bearing ways that provide twice the rigidity of ball bearing ways," said a company spokesperson. "The included Big-Plus dual contact spindle is designed to increase tool rigidity and cutting capability for optimum productivity, providing greater tool life. Standard spindles provide a single contact somewhere along the spindle taper, but the Big Plus spindle provides contact both on the spindle taper and on the full diameter of the tool flange, which increases tool length location accuracy and reduces tool run out while improving overall cutting rigidity."

The beltless direct-drive 7.5-HP 12,000 RPM spindle can tap up to 6,000 RPM for increased machine productivity. Rapid traverse rates in the X-, Y- and Z-axes are 2,362 IPM to maximize production. Positioning repeatability is ±0.00008" for enhanced machine accuracy. A separate 1-HP coolant pump is provided for chip wash-down to move the chips to the rear of the machine enclosure for easy clean out. An additional 45-PSI coolant pump is provided for the cutting tools. A 40-gallon coolant tank provides volume to mitigate thermal growth in the machine. The work area is fully enclosed, including top covers for coolant mist control. A chip wash down and air blast gun are supplied at the operator station.

The machine comes standard with automatic power shut down at the circuit breaker. The tool changer accommodates 21 BT#30 tools with a 1.6-second tool-to-tool change time, using a bi-directional shortest path indexing drum turret.

The Mitsubishi M80 CNC control, motor and drives are a matched package providing high-speed look-ahead and high-speed contouring with super smooth surface control. The 64-bit RISC processor operates at 135,000 blocks-per-minute with 1,356 block look-ahead capability to provide faster cycle times and better work finishes. USB and SD memory card slots for 32 GB memory cards are adjacent to the 10.4" LCD screen and a 32 GB solid-state data server is located within the control providing a long-term program memory archive.

The T-500 machine features an X-axis table travel of 20" with a 22" x 15.75" table surface. The T-700 machine features an X-axis table travel of 27.5" and a 33" by 15.75" table surface.
