M&H Engineering Invests in New Technology

(l-r) Byung Ki Chang, President, Hyundai WIA Machine America Corp.; Andrew Martens, Chief Financial Officer, M&H Engineering Co., Inc.; David Shaby, President, Compumachine, Inc.; Timothy Martens, President, M&H Engineering; Chris Burns, Sales Engineer, Compumachine, Inc. with the Hyundai WIA XF6300 5-axis Vertical Machining Center.

The Hyundai WIA XF6300 5-axis Vertical Machining Center

A direct drive motor (DDM) moves the tilting rotary table (optional gear type)

The spindle temperature is controlled by the use of a spindle oil chiller.

M&H Engineering Co., Inc. recently purchased the new Hyundai WIA XF6300 5-axis Vertical Machining Center (VMC). This is the first XF6300 5-axis Hyundai machine to be ordered by M&H Engineering in Danvers, MA.

The Hyundai WIA XF6300 5-axis VMC is designed for machining complex precision components and comes with a unified column-bed construction for stability and rigidity. The head body in the saddle of the X-axis, which surrounds the spindle cartridge, is a box-in-box type to minimize thermal deformation.

The XF6300 high-speed spindle is 15,000 RPM with a 41.6/33.5 HP motor. Rapid feedrates of the XYZ axes are all 1,969/2,362 IPM. The spindle temperature is controlled by the use of a spindle oil chiller to minimize thermal deformation. The toolholder is HSK for high speed machining. Through spindle coolant is 290/1,015 PSI.

Travels are XYZ 25.6" x 23.6" x 19.7". The A-axis is 150° and the C-axis is 360°.

Two options are available for the tilting rotary table: the direct drive method (DDM) or the gear type.

The automatic tool changer is a ring type ATC. The magazine holds 34 tools as standard with the option for a two-step magazine of 68 tools or a three-step magazine of 102 tools.

M&H Engineering Co., Inc. is a large metalworking job shop in Danvers, MA, producing precision machined parts for aerospace, medical, alternative energy, semiconductor, electronics, military and defense, space, telecommunications and other industries.

In the medical field, the company has worked with a major medical device manufacturer to produce critical components for an implantable artificial heart pump.

The 25,000 square foot plant houses many CNC milling machines with a milling capacity up to 50" x 20" x 25" including 5-axis machining, CNC turning machines with a turning capacity up to 18" diameter, EDM machines, honing machines and other equipment.

A complete climate controlled inspection room includes all types of gages, vision systems, coordinate measuring machines, height gages and leak detectors. Quality assurance data is computerized and SPC data can be made available to customers. The company is ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and AS9100 certified for quality assurance.

Materials often used in the machining of components at M&H include aluminum, brass, carbon steels, copper, Hastelloy, Inconel, Invar, magnesium, Nitronic 50, nickel alloys, stainless steels, titanium and plastics.
