Operating and Monitoring Control Product Range

The product range PMI (Pilz Machine Interface) 6 Control from Pilz is equipped with a soft PLC. This terminal goes beyond professional diagnostics and visualization so that now it is also possible to control the entire plant process.

With its new product range PMI (Pilz Machine Interface) 6 Control, the automation company Pilz is introducing its first operator terminal to be equipped with a soft PLC in accordance with IEC 61131-3 as standard. This terminal makes it possible to control the entire plant process in just one unit. "The PMI 6 Control not only offers comprehensive diagnostics, but also helps to increase the productivity of the `plant in view'," said a company spokesperson.

The PMI 6 Control operator terminal is based on a high-performance processor module with 1.3 GHz. Together with a 512 MB RAM, 512 MB Flash memory capacity and the operating system Windows Embedded Compact 7, the result is a high performance platform for all applications. Faster diagnostics and visualization of plant and machinery is possible in conjunction with Pilz control technology. Downtimes can be minimized as a result.

The PMI 6 Control generation comes in two versions, a 7" or a 12" glass touchscreen. Operation is intuitive and therefore fast and simple. This provides high productivity for the plant and machinery. The operator terminals come equipped with visualization. What's more, due to open interfaces, any common HMI visualization software can be used. Software packages are easy to install with the help of the PMI Assistant, which is an integral part of the supplied SD card and can be called up when required. This minimizes the work required during commissioning.

The diagnostic concept PVIS from Pilz comes installed on the product range PMI 6 Control: Where plants are equipped with PMI operator terminals and safety control systems from Pilz, it makes for easier troubleshooting when the machine malfunctions. Error messages are displayed in plain text and are accompanied by helpful suggestions for how to rectify the problem. The user is guided to the solution step by step, so troubleshooting is not time-consuming.
