American-made Machine Tools Revitalized with OEM Spare Parts

Bourn & Koch's Rockford, IL, headquarters has 600,000 + spare part SKUs in inventory for immediate delivery.

Over the last four decades, through numerous acquisitions, the Rockford, Illinois-based company, Bourn & Koch, Inc., has become the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for a long list of American-made legacy machine tools. Bourn & Koch supports these classic brands and many others with repair parts, technical support and field service: Barber-Colman, Blanchard, Bullard, DeVlieg, Fellows, Motch, King Machine Tool, Acme-Gridley and American Tool Works.

"We are proud to keep the machines that built American industry running to this day," said Greg Champion, Bourn & Koch Vice President of Sales & Marketing. With over 600,000 part SKUs in its Rockford facility, Bourn & Koch's comprehensive inventory includes everything from belts, screws, bearings, springs, seals, shafts, switches, knobs, handles, gears, cables, slides, drums, motors, pumps, filters and spindles to complete sub-assemblies. The company also offers OEM manuals along with full rebuild and retrofitting services.

Archives of original machine drawings dating back to 1896 provide the numbers to match with parts. As OEM, Bourn & Koch has all of the original documentation for every brand it owns and knows exactly how the machines were built and what parts are needed to keep them running reliably. Bourn & Koch does not reverse engineer its parts. When a repair part is not in stock, a new part can be made from the original detail prints so it will fit without any modification.

With a large staff in Rockford of factory-trained service technicians, engineers, precision machine tool assemblers and inspection technicians, Bourn & Koch can remanufacture, retrofit, redesign, rebuild, recondition and repair worn out machines to keep them running for decades to come. "The company has completed over 2,500 of these projects since 1975 often incorporating new technology into older machines, making improvements in accuracy and reliabilities superior to the original OEM tolerances," said a company spokesperson.
