Bryant Grinder Receives Patent For New Software

Bryant Grinder, a division of Vermont Machine Tool, has been awarded a patent for its REVELATIONS machine control software. The control software employs principles of object-oriented design to allow its use on virtually any machine tool configuration. Its flow-chart programming interface offers sequencing and operation options not available in any other control software, the company said. REVELATIONS also allows secure internet connections, which can enhance support for field installations.

A division of Vermont Machine Tool since 2002, Bryant's newest control software is used not only on grinding machines, but can be optimized to run gear shapers, hobbers, lathes, machining centers or machining cells, the company said.

The software's flexibility extends to individual control devices on each machine, allowing full programmatic control of anything the machine is capable of doing. "Customers can optimize their applications for the highest quality and fastest production times with minimal trade-offs," said a company spokesperson.

"The Bryant software development team of Robby Little, Philip Caron, Richard Desbiens, David Lauzon and Jeffrey Ramen made simple ease-of-use a top priority when designing REVELATIONS. Repeatedly, it has been demonstrated that two hours training time or less is enough for operators to become productive using the control.

"The networking capability afforded by REVELATIONS allows Bryant technicians in Springfield, VT, by request, to connect to customer's machines and view machine operations. This reduces troubleshooting times and service expenses and allows instant software corrections or updates to be downloaded to the machine. REVELATIONS also supports customers' data collection and standardizations across departments or facilities."
